A chaotically-ambitious gay in South Florida ignores the warning of his friends and family who are all worried about him talking to his ex-fiancé again, but his lies to them only cover the toxic attachment he has to the love of his life.
Tri-County is a half-hour dramedy that takes an intimate look into the lives of black, brown and queer people in South Florida’s tri-county area of Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. Season One of Tri-County is comprised of 10 impactful episodes.
Queer, BIPOC representation in the media is more important now than ever. With basic human liberties at risk and the right to harmless self-expression under constant fire, we can use our voices within the media to exemplify and share the stories of those silenced, underrepresented, and most of all—misrepresented.
As Queer and BIPOC stories make it to the screen, we often see tragic stories of flat gays who were only thrown in for shock value or a sprinkle of coming out drama. We don’t see happy gays or even the gays who want better for themselves—just tools in a plot. That’s not representation at all.
WHAT ISSUES DOES TRI-COUNTY BRING TO THE FOREFRONT?
Mental Health
The plotlines of Tri-County explore (and specifically
address) the importance of mental health in today’s
transforming world.
Family Life
Widowed families, divorced families, interracial
families and the way in which we respond to them
are all interwoven in Tri-County’s plot.
HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health
Tri-County delves into sexual health for the modern
young adult, shining a light on women’s health and
the fact that Black and Latino people in the US are
disproportionately affected by HIV and STIs.
Human Rights & Equality
As divisions widen within today’s climate, Tri-County
highlights the need for basic human rights and
equality, bringing people from all walks of life
together, just like our South Florida community.
