“If I put your bong and your ex each ten feet away on either side of you, I swear I don’t know who you’d run to.” – Monica Powell

A Half Hour Dramatic Comedy
Tri-County is an intimate look into the lives and relationships of mis- and underrepresented queer, black and brown voices, set within South Florida’s tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. It’s a show that captures those late-twenties years that teach you the last of what you need before the longer stretch of adulthood begins, all whilst becoming too self-aware for your own liking, and doing way too much introspection and self-reflection. Centering on Cameron, a motivated, black queer man who feels insecure about his own life as thirty approaches, and with his ex in the picture again “for business purposes only,” Tri-County zones in on Cameron as he lies to his protective friends about his rekindled love, and exactly why Cameron can’t bring himself to let go of someone who hurt him so much. Along with Cameron’s story, the show spotlights Monica, a biracial woman in a heterosexual relationship who has her own fiance drama; as well as Neil, a black queer man who feels he’s found “the one,” but there’s just too much baggage to claim when his love won’t step out of the closet for him. And as they all deal with matters of the heart, family, friends, and life’s constant changes challenge them, ushering them into the world and their lives ahead of them.
